Fraud Checks

For this project, I helped design the journey and wrote all the copy for that bit in the Barclays app where you try to send money to someone you’ve sent it to one hundred times before and the bank goes, ‘Are you sure your grandson isn’t funding a militant coup in Sodor, or worse, a crypto-scammer?’.

To be sincere for a second, working on the fraud checks journey was very, very fulfilling. I had a great team and designing something to help vulnerable people feel better about sending money has made me consider more content design in the future. Sounds cool too.

I enjoyed having to work out all of the potential ways people might try to send their money to the wrong person, and writing in gradually harsher tones when the ‘Risk-o-meter’ was flashing red after the user answered questions that made it clear something wasn’t right.

Oh, and the ‘Risk-o-meter’ makes this website look like the Sistine Chapel.
